A paralegal with the medical malpractice team of Bonina & Bonina Sandra works closely with John Bonina, Jr. in both the investigation of cases and the preparation of cases for trial.
Sandra is responsible for scheduling witnesses for testimony, organizing records and assisting in the courtroom. She meets with clients when they first come to the office and follows each case through to conclusion, working with experts and performing extensive computerized research.
Sandra was born in Haiti and moved with her family to the United States in 1988. She is fluent in Creole, French, Spanish and English.
A graduate of CUNY Hunter College with a Bachelors degree in Political Science and Economics, Sandra has always believed in fighting to protect the rights of others.
While attending Hunter Sandra became involved with the New York Public Interest Research Group fighting to ensure that all New Yorkers would have the right to higher education regardless of race, religion or ability to pay. Her enthusiasm and speaking ability lead to her being elected by the student body on two separate occasions to go to Albany and lobby for Student rights.
That energy and dedication to helping others has made her work with the med law team very satisfying. "Knowing that the work you do can make a difference in a client’s life is incredibly rewarding", says Sandra. "Fighting as part of a team to see that justice is done makes every part of the job important."
After graduating Hunter, Sandra obtained her paralegal certificate from New York University in 1998. She is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Paralegal Division.
Sandy is an avid runner, and has completed multiple marathons. She recently worked with Andrea Bonina to organize the first annual “Liz Padilla Memorial 5K” to benefit the Brooklyn Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Project. The Volunteer Lawyers Project provides pro bono legal services to the neediest people in Brooklyn.
Sandra lives with her family in Brooklyn.
